INTERVIEW!
OBZ: Do you write your own songs?
THIELE: Yes. I think that's important as an artist. I try to keep a balance between writing alone and co-writing.

OBZ: What does your songs evolve from?
THIELE: Usually starts with a riff, or some chords, and me figuring out an interesting melody over them. Then words come later, after I've lived with the melody for a bit and the song tells me what it needs to be about.

OBZ: You also write for other artists. Is the collaboration important to you?
THIELE: Yes, it's good to have the experience of working with other people. Give and take. Compromising ideas sometimes is a good thing. there's a nice energy when you've created something together with someone.

OBZ: Is music for you a feeling of life? Do you think music should play an important role in people’s life?
THIELE: Totally a feeling of life. I'm always very happy when I finish writing a song. It's such a sense of accomplishment. And now, something exists in the world that never existed before. It should definitely be an important role in someone's life. Just like in movies, music can help you feel the emotions being portrayed. Same goes with life. Music makes us FEEL.

OBZ: Do you always play your music live? Is that important to you?
THIELE: I don’t play out as much as I’d like to. Unfortunately, when you’re living in L.A. playing out is more of a nightmare than anything. This city is too crowded, there’s too many things to do, and it seems like nobody cares. You don’t get paid, there’s no parking, you don’t even get a free meal. It kind of leaves a bad taste in your mouth. I need to get out of L.A. and go perform.

OBZ: With whom would you like to work together?
THIELE: Lindford Detweiler (From Over The Rhine) and Jonatha Brooke

OBZ: Do you have a dream project?
THIELE: My own

OBZ: What was the most embarrassing thing that happened to you? Was it on a concert? Or was it on another event?
THIELE: Fortunate to not have one yet.

OBZ: People can buy your music here in the shops. Where else could people get your music from?
THIELE: You can buy my CD “The Opening Act” from my website www. davidthiele. com and iTunes. You can also buy my latest CD “Beautiful Mess” off of iTunes.

OBZ: Tell me about the greatest experience you had with your fans.
THIELE: One of the greatest experiences is when your music effects someone so much it makes them cry. My song “Trying” comes from such a deep place, and it seems to connect with people on a very emotional level.

OBZ: Is it important to you to keep in contact with your fans?
THIELE: Definitely. I want people to know I’m a person, just like them.

OBZ: What is the most important thing in your life?
THIELE: My wife, my family, and my music.

OBZ: Imagine you had one free wish. What would you wish for?
THIELE: to finally get a big break so a HUGE audience can hear my music.

OBZ: Have you ever been to Germany before?
THIELE: No, but I WANT to go.

OBZ: Imagine now you have the opportunity to thank all your friends and family. What would you say to them?
THIELE: Thanks for supporting this dream of mine even if you thought I was crazy to want to pursue such an instable career. It makes me happy.

OBZ: What can we expect of you in the future?
THIELE: Definitely more music. Touring. Would love to get outside of the U.S.A. and see what’s out there. I hear it’s GREAT.
